| The T V s h o w T e r r a I n c o g n i t a The broadcasting of the TV series "An Unknown Land" started on the Bulgarian National Television in the beginning of 2003. Atanas Dimitrov is both, producer and director of the TV show, while Nona conducts it. The idea of the show is to acquaint the spectators in a simple form with the unfamiliar and unknown, curious and mysterious past and present of the land, we live on. Personally Nona did not know that a highly developed civilization existed here 8 - 9 thousand years ago, preceding the civilizations of Sumer and Egypt. They visit lots of interesting places, like archaeological sites, caves, museums, etc. And Nona definitely feels very proud to be Bulgarian because the most ancient culture of Europe lies only a few meters under our feet. Intellectual impulses used to start from here in the direction of the whole continent. It was in Bulgaria that the oldest copper mine was discovered in the locality "Mechi kladenec" near "Stara Zagora"; besides, the oldest processed gold, which is now in the Varna halcolithic acropolis, was found here. This is an exceptionally developed civilization, which has existed for as many as 2000 years, a civilization of intelligent, physically strong and spiritually high-minded people. Those people have created incredibly beautiful metal and ceramic objects, adornments, weapons and tools. They have returned the blocks of rock back to their places after extracting the copper ore from them, so as not to violate the ecosystem. In other words, 5000 years BC whatever they took from Mother Nature, they brought it back to its place. The ore was their big wealth, same as petrol nowadays. Maybe copper is one of the eventual reasons for the invasion of militant horsemen, who came and destroyed the ancient civilization on our land. We learn extremely interesting facts during the shooting of the films and for each show we meet different people, who have dedicated their lives to history and archaeology. Nona was particularly impressed by Mr. Minchev from the Varna museum, by Yavor Boyadjiev from the settlement Yunatsite, by Peter Kalchev from Stara Zagora and of course by all the specialists they have worked with. The most emotional film for her was shot in the settlement Yunatsite. They called it "The Town of the Birds". There they witnessed a real human tragedy. The skeletons of the murdered people stood in front of their eyes. The bigger skeleton was holding tight the smaller one under itself in a desperate pose, trying to save the life of the child. And in the whole town archaeologists keep finding idols of birds. Nona could not help thinking that this was an incredible symbol. Those people, who have worshipped the birds and raised them to a cult, have flown to us through the millennia in order to tell us about themselves and about their world. Nona will never forget their souls, flying to us from the past. You can watch the series "An Unknown Land" every Sunday from 14.00 to 17.00 o'clock on Channel 1 of the National Television; at 18.00 o'clock on Saturday on Satellite Bulgaria, or you can watch the repeated transmissions in the early hours of the night between Friday and Saturday. Nona expects you to join the viewers of the series "An Unknown Land"! |
